Here we bring you the best happenings of Kollywood from the just passed week
The title of Vijay 61 is a never-ending guessing game. Last week, a section of media was reporting that Moondru Mugam is the chosen title of this upcoming Vijay-Atlee film. We had indicated that the team is looking for a one-word title. Our sources close to the team have denied the title of Moondru Mugam.
Now the latest we hear is that the makers are trying to acquire the title rights of Superstar Rajinikanth-Mani Ratnam cult classic film Thalapathi. Wouldn’t that be a fitting title for Vijay? We have known him as Ilayathalapathy for quite a while now and will he be called Thalapathy going forward? Let's wait and see
However, it must be noted that the title is still only in consideration stage and has not been finalized yet. So let us wait for an official confirmation from the team before celebrating.
When Suriya was in Kerala for a promotional event of Si3 a couple of months ago, he met a physically challenged Vijay fan who presented him a gift and asked him to pass it on to actor Vijay. Suriya without any ego and fuss accepted it with a smile and also promised to deliver the gift to Vijay.
Apparently, the physically challenged fan’s gift has reached Vijay. Rajsekarpandian, Director of 2D Entertainments, personally met Vijay and handed over the present to him.
When we spoke to Rajsekarpandian about the meeting, this is what he had to say, “I had called Vijay sir’s manager and he arranged for a meeting with sir. I met him at the shooting spot of his ongoing film. Vijay sir received the gift with a smile and also thanked Suriya for the wonderful gesture. Since he was in a surprise new makeover, we did not click a picture.”
Director turned actor Rajakumaran during a conversation with Behindwoods revealed that he was offered to direct Ajith Kumar again after Nee Varuvai Enna, but he apparently refused the invitation. This is what he had to say:
“Many actors would not prefer to wear the ‘Ramarajan’ type of bright pink shirt. But I have made all my heroes wear such colourful shirts from Sarath Kumar sir to Vikram sir to Ajith sir. But I think that costume was beautiful on Ajith sir. Can we find that Ajith now? Can we see that natural looking village type Ajith now wearing a dhoti with a pink shirt that I showed in my film? Even after that, I was offered to direct Ajith sir again, but I rejected.”
Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram directed by Gautham Menon will apparently have two heroines. Ritu Varma as informed earlier will be playing one of the leads and now the latest we hear is that Aishwarya Rajesh of Kaakka Muttai fame will supposedly be playing the other heroine’s role.
Dhruva Natchathiram’s shooting is taking place in Coonoor at the moment and the team has planned to release the film in the month of August. Harris Jayaraj takes care of the music department for this spy agent action thriller.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s debut directorial Maanagaram has been basking in the lavish praise of critics and the audience. The film produced by SR Prabhu for Potential Studios features Sri, Sundeep Kishan and Regina Cassandra.
The film has found a super admirer in the form of Superstar Rajinikanth who had watched the film last night and had showered praise on the team.
Talking about it, director Lokesh says, “I got a call last night around 10.45 from my producer stating that I need to attend a call that would come in. Before I could ask the details, the line went dead. Then came THE call when someone said- somebody wants to talk to you. When I asked who it was, the answer was Rajini sir. That’s all. I totally got blanked out.
Then Rajini sir came on the line and said, “Kanna, you have done extraordinary well; all aspects of the film including the technical details are superb. I was seeing the film sitting at the edge of my seat”.
I was dumbstruck and could not say anything. I just thanked him and said I was at a loss of words for which he gave out his characteristic laughter.
Finally, he said- kalakkitta maa (கலக்கிட்ட மா), and that’s all about it".
Incidentally, yesterday was Lokesh’s birthday and he could not have asked for a better birthday gift than this.
The teaser of Simbu’s Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, is the current hot topic in the K-town circle. The 2-minute teaser video featured Simbu in the Ashwin Thatha getup.
It looks like Superstar Rajinikanth has apparently seen the teaser and immediately called the AYM actor to appreciate him. Simbu took to Twitter to share this happiness. He tweeted, “#Thalaivar @superstarrajini just called and appreciated #AshwinThathaTeaser .On cloud nine :) Super happy #Blessed overwhelmed & humbled.”
Director Adhik Ravichandran tweeted, “Thalaivaa Surprise call from @superstarrajini sir to @iam_str praising #AshwinThathaTeaser Idhu Podhum Thalaiva! #Magilchi & #Sirappu”
What more does the AAA team need? A moment to celebrate!

Suresh Menon who had directed and played the lead in Puthiya Mugam is also doing an important role in Vignesh Shivn - Suriya's Thaana Serndha Koottam. A section of media has been reporting that he is dead.
Apparently, this news is totally false. Looks like the rumour mongers have got confused with his name with Malayalam film Puthiya Mukham director Diphan who passed away this morning in Kochi.
When Behindwoods spoke to Suresh Menon, he said, “The news is obviously false, I am Suresh Menon talking and I am enjoying some nice coffee at the moment. That’s all I can say”.
Besides Thaana Serndha Koottam, Suresh Menon is also acting in 4G. Things like these are a little sensitive and we request people to double or triple check before carrying such stories.
The cinematographer of Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Jomon.T.John, who also took part in Dhruva Natchathiram's teaser and primary shoot, moved out of that project due to date issues, and he was replaced by Ravi.K.Chandran's son Santhana Krishnan.
Jomon, on his official social media page, posted about this. "Honoured to announce my new project, Golmaal, with Rohit Shetty,Ajay Devgan,Parineethi Chopra & Tabu. But good things come with a price and so this time I will not be able to work with Gautham Sir (#Druvanachathiram) and be part of the rest of the journey with him despite trying to adjust dates and accommodate both, as Golmaal was committed much before. But I feel blessed for getting the opportunity to work with such passionate directors. Thanks for your prayers and love. #Bollywood #golmaalagain #unlimitedFun"

Director SS Rajamouli along with his Baahubali team met the press today (16th March) after launching the trailer of Baahubali: The Conclusion. Here we bring to few interesting excerpts from his conversation.
1. Are you worried that fans will crack the idea on why Kattappa killed Baahubali?
“I am not at all bothered about people guessing the real reason of why Kattappa killed Baahubali. Today, people guess the second half when seeing the first half; some movie buffs predict the climax of a film on watching the first 20 minutes. But what matters is how interestingly we present it. For example, when we are going to make a movie out of epics like Mahabharatham and Ramayanam, we know the story, but still, we want to see the drama to know how well they have translated the story into a visual form. Most of the theories that have been coming out on Kattappa-Baahubali mystery, are wrong. Few are a little bit closer, but if someone guesses the full story too, I am not worried.”
2. How satisfied are you with the output of the trailer?
“I was a little tensed while working on the trailer cuts but when I saw it as a whole product along with Keeravani’s BGM, it went even beyond my expectation level. He gives an extra tweak to the visuals.
3. How different will this part be when compared with the earlier one?
“The first part had less emotions and more grandeur but in 2nd part, both the factors will be in equal proportion.”
4. How are you going to deal with piracy? Earlier some war scenes were leaked, now the trailer has got leaked.
“Piracy is a different issue and leakage is a different issue. This trailer leak happened due to some bug in the Facebook. We are still trying to figure out how it happened. It is very irritating but we cannot blame someone without knowing about it. We had a big plan for 5 PM but unfortunately, we launched it a bit earlier. It is however a good news for the fans.”
5. Will Baahubali 2 fight scenes match the intensity created in the 1st part fight scene?
“The Everest peak of Baahubali would be the climax fight between Shivudu and
Ballaladeva”.
6. How would your next film be?
“I am not sure about what type of film I am going to direct next but I hope I do not involve my VFX supervisor Kamala Kannan in it, a film that does not need VFX work (laughs).”
