Rajinikanth reveals he won't be contesting in the 2019 Lok Sabha Parliamentary elections

Actor Rajinikanth, who is currently basking on the success of his latest film, Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, will soon be starting work on his next film, directed by AR Murugadoss. Ever since he announced his arrival into the political arena, people have been waiting to hear his plans for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Now, the Superstar has let out a statement regarding this. This was released by his party, Rajini Makkal Mandram. It read:

"I won't be contesting in the upcoming elections. Our aim is the 2021 Legislative Assembly election, and we are working on that.

In the upcoming elections, I won't be supporting any specific party. Therefore, no party or candidate should use my films, or the flags of my associations, for campaigning.

Tamil Nadu's biggest problem is water scarcity. In the elections, please do vote for the party that is strong and stable, and is capable of resolving TN's water scarcity problem, and promises to do the same. Please think and vote for that party. This is my kind request.
