Chennai Police is now deploying robots for surveillance in containment zones of the city. The robots will be used to ensure the safety of police officials who are on duty in these areas. The officials will be able to maintain social distancing.
That’s not all! A camera has been added to the robot and it can also interact with people staying in the area to spread awareness about the pandemic.
As per India Today’s report on the subject, the robot was first tested in Mylapore on Friday, which is one of the containment zones in the city.
At present Tamil Nadu has recorded almost 2,000 COVID19 cases. Chennai is one of the worst-affected areas in the state with over 570 positive cases.
