Heartwarming: This Chennai govt school teacher buys breakfast daily for 120 kids

PK Ilamaran, a government school teacher from Kodungaiyur in Chennai has come in for much praise after newspaper reports carried his noble act of sponsoring meals for 120 kids at the high school where he teaches on a daily basis.

Ilamaran decided to sponsor meals of the kids after finding out that many of them were skipping the most important meal of the day due to financial issues and were prone to tiredness and sunstrokes particularly in summer.

He has also petitioned the state government to provide breakfast for kids studying in government schools since as of now only mid-day meal/lunch is provided.

Jayalalithaa, the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, as part of her manifesto had said that in addition to noon meal, breakfast would also be provided in government schools but with her demise and the subsequent chaos within the party, the idea died a natural death.
