In a shocking case, a 75-year-old woman patient and an ambulance driver were killed after the ambulance rammed into a private staff bus near Athur in Kancheepuram.

Two others who were along with them have been seriously injured. The woman patient has been identified as Kaniammal.  

According to Indian Express report, the patient suffered chest pain in the night after which her daughter Saraswati called for an ambulance. During late part of the night while travelling on the Kancheepuram-Chengalpattu Road, the driver tried to overtake a private bus travelling in the same direction.

Minutes later, the ambulance driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed the bus from behind. The patient and the driver, identified as Jayakumar died on the spot, while Saraswati and a technician Dinakaran, who were also travelling sustained severe injuries, The Express further reported. 

When media contacted hospital staff, Dr. R Jayanthi, dean of Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital said that "Dinakaran has suffered injuries on his head and had to undergo surgery. While Saraswati's condition continues to be critical". 

Meanwhile, the police who were quick in action investigated that the bus belonged to a private car company and had no passengers when the incident took place. 

Also, the front portion of the ambulance was fully damaged which lead to the death of the patient and driver.
