India won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first ODI against West Indies at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. The match was already reduced to 43 overs since it had a delayed start due to rain. When West Indies began their innings, rain interrupted the play at 5.4 overs with 9/0 on the scoreboard. Further, the match was reduced to 40 overs.

However after the umpires inspected the field, they were not happy with the playing conditions. Therefore, the match was further limited to 34 overs finally. Once the play resumed, Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle had put up a partnership of 42 runs which did not last long when Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Chris Gayle in the 11th over for just 4 runs.

Earlier, West Indies Captain expressed his happiness over Chris Gayle’s inclusion in the team. However, though the experienced opener could not entertain in the match with his bat, his bit of shaking legs with Virat Kohli covered the part. But it was Virat Kohli who stole the show with his Indian “Kuthu” dance moves in the Carribean. The second ODI between India and West Indies is scheduled on August 11 in Trinidad.

BCCI shared the pictures of Virat Kohli’s joyous moments with the caption “When in the Caribbean, breaking into a jig be like #TeamIndia #WIvIND”
