Home > News Shots > Sports newsToday, is one of the many important matches where neighbouring countries Afghanistan and Pakistan met each other for a crucial World Cup 2019 match. Soon after the match started clashes broke out between fans of both the sides and some of them had to be evicted from the Headingley stadium.
After the clash broke out, videos surfaced on Twitter showing the violent clashes which are reported to have happened during the 1st half of the game.
According to ESPNcricinfo report, at least two people were also evicted from the Headingley Cricket Ground. Those evicted reportedly continued the melee outside the stadium and a few journalists who were trying to film the scenes were also allegedly harmed. There have also been reports of fans entering the stadium illegally and occupying seats.
Meanwhile, a Pakistani reporter in Headingley took to Twitter and said "Supporters of Afghanistan cricket team go violent outside the #Headingley cricket stadium, attempt to break down security gate, throw bottles at the security team manning gates, police makes two arrests for violent actions."
Additionally there were also videos of two aeroplane banner messages. While one said "Help end disappearances in Pakistan," the other said "Justice for Balochistan."
