BJP leaders fall into river while immersing former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's ashes

While immersing the ashes of five-time former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's ashes in a river in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, a group of senior BJP leaders fell inside the water.

Reportedly, the incident happened on Sunday evening. The boat they were travelling in was overcrowded and hence, overturned. Many senior BJP leaders, former state BJP chief Ramapati Ram Tripathi, MP Harish Dwivedi and Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar were reportedly present on the boat.

It was a narrow escape for the victims. Once the boat overturned, police personnel jumped into the river and saved the dignitaries. Reportedly, the boat capsized near the banks and so it was not a major accident.
