BSNL Introduces VRS scheme; More Than 70,000-80,000 Employees Eligible With Benefits Attached!
Home > News Shots > Business newsThis news came as a shock to all BSNL employees, after the state-owned BSNL rolled out a voluntary retirement scheme for its employees. With this scheme nearly 70,000-80,000 personnel can opt for it leading to savings of about Rs 7,000 crore in wage bill.
This scheme will be open to employees between November 4 and December 3. Nearly, one lakh BSNL employees will be eligible for the VRS out of 1.50 lakh employees existing.
According to news agency PTI, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director P K Purwar stated that instructions regarding the same have already been given to field units to inform employees about the VRS offering.
"This is the best VRS given by the government and BSNL employees should see it in a positive frame of mind," Purwar said. Further explaining about the scheme, he said the corporation expects 70,000-80,000 employees to benefit from this and added that saving in wage bill is expected to be about Rs 7,000 crore with those numbers.
Looking into the `BSNL Voluntary Retirement Scheme - 2019' all employees of BSNL, who attended the age of 50 years or above are eligible to seek voluntary retirement under the scheme.
Meanwhile, the total amount of ex-gratia will be equal to 35 days salary for each completed year of service and 25 days salary for every year of service left until superannuation.
