After 12,000 Job Cuts, IT Major Cognizant to Upskill 5000 Targeted Employees!
Home > News Shots > Business newsIT Major Cognizant has begun identifying employees from its mid and top tiers for re-skilling and re-training, following plans to reduce work force.
“So, (we are) looking now to try and identify who are the first wave of folks that we will put through those re-skilling programs and then put them back into the market. All of this is targeted, and I would call sort of the more mid- to senior levels of the organization. So (we are) really trying to address our pyramid,” the company's Chief Financial Officer Karen McLoughlin was quoted as saying by Economic Times.
Last month, in a letter to employees, Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries wrote about jobs cuts, delay in increments and more under the company's 'Fit-for-Growth' plan. Though he did not speak about a specific geographic location, India will anyhow face a massive blow as it accounts for Cognizant's 70% headcount.
Cognizant has also hired former Capgemini executive Mark Taylor as senior VP for its interactive business. The firm has also planned to increase hiring in its sales vertical to build a strong team that will target deals in digital services.
