Though Jason Holder played for Chennai Super Kings, Sun Risers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, he remained unsold in the 2019 auction in which his base price was
set to 1.5 crores.

Holder's form would have failed to impress IPL franchises in the previous edition but things changed now. He has been named as the Test Player of 2019 by Cricket West Indies and he also remains in the NO: 1 position of ICC's test all-rounder ranking since January 2019 with 472 points before India's Ravindra Jadeja who holds 414 points.
