Exclusive : What happened to Vijay's Hollywood film?

As we all know, Ilayathalapathy Vijay was speculated to do a Hollywood film in 2013, titled as Curry in Love, which was to be directed by P.Vasu. This film carried big names like Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in its star cast.

P.Vasu, the man himself, during an exclusive chat with Behindwoods, clarified about the project. He said, "Well, I went to Los Angeles and stayed there for 15 days. I went to narrate the script to Nick Nolte, a very popular Hollywood actor, who has acted in films like 48 hours and has won an Oscar too. There is an important 70-year-old character in the film, and I went to narrate the script to him. There are some hilarious comedy scenes that revolve around that character. I narrated the story for one and half hours, and he just asked me one question, 'Why should you narrate, why can't you send me?', as they all read scripts, instead of listening. He loved the script and agreed to do.

He is a highly paid actor there, and when he, along with all our Indian stars (Vijay and Sonam), join together, the total budget of the film goes sky high. Not just that, the movie's climax requires to be shot in a very grand scale, and for that, a lot of finance is needed. Even two big producers expressed their interest to fund the film. When I get the required budget, I will definitely do this movie."

So, when can we expect this to happen? In a few months or years of time, we will get the answer for this!

A milestone film for Vijay Sethupathi begins!

We had earlier reported that Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom director Balaji Tharaneetharan would be teaming up again with Vijay Sethupathi for a film titled Seethakaadhi. The film had its customary Pooja today on the auspicious occasion of Tamil New Years Day.

Passion studios that had earlier bankrolled Kappal and are currently funding Arun Vaidyanathan’s Nibunan will be producing this venture too. Incidentally, Seethakaadhi is the 25th film of Vijay Sethupathi.

Talking at the Pooja, Balaji Tharaneetharan said, “Excited indeed! Words of expression are few when a sort of reunion happens beyond emotional connect. Vijay Sethupathi fits himself as "Seethakadhi" as his birthright. We are aware that the expectations will be very high and we are equally confident that this film will match to the expectations. This script needed a production company with passion and Passion Studios are here to present a film that is sure to be discussed for a long time. The shooting will be commencing from 24th April."

Seethakaadhi will have Govind Menon's music, Saraskanth's cinematography and Govindaraj's editing.

Latest Development on Vijay 61! Any Treat for Tamil New Year?

The last update we reported about Vijay 61 is that the team is busy shooting a song sequence, and few important scenes in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Here, we have the next latest development. Reliable sources reveal that the team finished the Rajasthan schedule and came back to Chennai last night (11th April). It is also added that the team has immediately begun their next schedule, now in Chennai, starting from today.

This schedule is expected to go on till the end of this month. Some of the very important scenes are said to be canned in this schedule. Neither the first look nor the title, as rumored earlier, will be releasing for Tamil New Year, as the team is really busy with the shooting.

Vijay 61, going at a rapid pace!

In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, SS Rajamouli opened up about how he feels when people compare him with director Shankar.

“I get a little freaked out and at the same time little shy and happy too when people compare me with Shankar. It is a mixture of fear, shy and happiness.

When I started as an assistant director, visual effects was not a filmmaking tool. Filmmakers were not using VFX much back then. To my knowledge in Telugu, Shyam Prasad sir was the first to use visual effect, and he used to enhance the emotions.

Then I saw Shankar sir who used VFX to enhance the magnanimity of the film. Those two are best users of visual effect in our generation of directors.

Whoever is doing VFX today have learned the art from these two directors. I will not say he is my Guru because I have never worked under him but a part of me is happy when people associate my name with him. But please do not compare Shankar sir with me.”

I requested Rajamouli to do a film for Ilayathalapathy

Kalaipuli S Thanu was one of the chief guests for the Baahubali 2 audio launch, which is happening currently at YMCA grounds.

In his speech, the Theri producer gave an interesting information that many of us might not have come across. He said, "I requested S.S.Rajamouli to do a film for Ilayathalapathy Vijay in 2004. But since he had commitments at that time, Rajamouli said, he will finish all those and do a film with Vijay. I hope the film is made soon."

Wouldn't it be exciting to see Vijay under S.S.Rajamouli's direction?

Interesting Update on Venkat Prabhu's Next

Venkat Prabhu, whose previous venture Chennai 28 part 2 had a successful run in theatres, is gearing up to direct his next. The director had announced that he will be directing a movie for the production company, Amma Creations.

The latest we hear from reliable sources is that, actors Kayal Chandran and Nivetha Pethuraj could be a part of this new project which is supposed to be a multi starrer. The director who is known for directing fun filled movies that guarantee entertainment, is currently still busy with pre production work and the official announcements on the cast and details can be expected soon.

Breaking: Ilaiyaraaja to colloborate with another leading Tamil Music Director after 13 Years

Seenu Ramasamy, who gave us a feel good entertainer in the form of Dharmadurai, is currently busy with the pre-production works of his next. Reliable sources hint some interesting information regarding the next film of his. It is said that this project will be funded by Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Studios. This will be Yuvan's second production venture, after Nayanthara’s Kolaiyuthir Kaalam.

The most interesting part here is the music department. It wouldn’t be just Yuvan who would be scoring the music, but also the legendary composer and father of Yuvan, Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, who is also reported to work on the film’s songs and background score. Looks like Ilaiyaraaja might collaborate with Yuvan Shankar Raja for the very first time to compose the music, a father - son combination.

It has been a long time since Ilaiyaraaja collaborated with another music director. The last time he collaborated, was with M.S.Viswanathan for the film Vishwa Thulasi (directed by Sumathy Ram), in 2004.

This, definitely, is an exciting information for all the movie buffs and music lovers.

Just after talking to Kannada director Dayal Padmanabhan on Baahubali-2 release issue in Karnataka, here we bring you an exclusive interview with politician and social activist Vatal Nagaraj.

We heard that a team led by you has decided to stall Baahubali-2 release in Karnataka. Is it true?

"Yes, it is true. We have decided to stall Baahubali-2 release and all other Sathyaraj's films henceforth."

Can you elaborate on this?

"Everyone is aware of the harsh statements that Sathyaraj had made during a protest that was held in his state over Cauvery issue. In his speech he had spoken harsh about Kannadigas and the state, he also went on to defame my name without any proper factual accuracy. This has led to hatred towards Satyaraj. Initially, we wanted to have restriction over Tamil cinema, but we did not get proper support and now in this particular issue pertaining to Sathyaraj's film we have obtained permission from Film Chamber Association and they have asked us to proceed forward to impose restriction in all his movies henceforth."

The speech was made way back. Did it take so many years to take this call? It also gives the sense of targeting a particular film than Sathyaraj.

"No, this is absolutely wrong. I have no personal reason to stall the release of Baahubali or any other films. My only intention is to stop screening all the films which have Sathyaraj, in Karnataka."

What are other demands that you and your activists have from the Chamber?

"Our only demand is to ban Sathyaraj's films in Karnataka and even after all this, if Baahubali-2 releases in Karnataka, then we are calling a state-level bandh to protest over this issue and will throw red cards to theaters screening Baahubali-2."

We heard from a Kannada director who had asked Sathyaraj to come forward and apologize to ease the release of Baahubali-2. Your take on this?

"Let him step forward first and apologize to the people of Karnataka for his harsh statement and also to me for defaming my name. Then we will decide what can be done after that."

We hope the producers, distributors, and protesters find an amicable solution soon, to have a smooth release of the movie.
