Vezham is a thriller film written and directed by Sandeep Shyam and produced by K4 Kreations. The film has Ashok Selvan, Janani Iyer and Iswarya Menon in the lead roles while Shyam Sundhar, Sangili Murugan and others play crucial supporting roles. The film has music by Jhanu Chanthar and cinematography by Shakthi Aravind.

Ashok (Ashok Selvan) and Leela (Iswarya Menon) are a young couple, who go out on a bike trip, which ends in Leela being killed by a masked man, while Ashok is brutally injured. He wants to find out who killed Leela, and the only clue he has is the voice of the masked man. The rest of the film deals with Ashok's search for the masked mystery killer.

Considering the premise of the film, Vezham had a lot in it to become an exciting whodunit thriller, but everytime the tension reaches a crest, it is pulled down by some convenient writing.

The film throws plenty of twists at you as you near the climax, half of which don't sit well with the narrative. It feels like the twists and turns are placed just for the sake of it. The film would have worked better if the twists were more organic in nature and less in number. The ending is also slightly predictable.

The film gets proper support in the form of the actors - Ashok Selvan, Iswarya Menon and Janani Iyer. Though Janani's character doesn't offer much to the script, her performance is praiseworthy. Iswarya Menon displays a lot of maturity in her performance, while Ashok Selvan scores in both - his emotional scenes as well as his physique, with the latter offering credibility to the fight scenes.

The soul of the film lies in the hands of Jhanu Chanthar whose music makes the thriller portions more exciting and the romantic portions delightful. The edit pattern is interesting and it makes the film lifts the film several notches higher. The camera work by Shakthi Arvind is basic and gives the film what it needs, and nothing more.

Overall, Vezham is a sincere attempt to make a good thriller, but not always does good intent translate into a good film. There are several places where the film brings you to the edge of the seat, but it does not have enough in it to satisfy you completely. Nevertheless, if you're a fan of the thriller genre, this film a harmless one time watch, which might work for you.

Verdict: Vezham is a watchable thriller with good performances and music.
