We have a happy news for all Visaaranai fans. Yes, the critically acclaimed Vetri Maaran film has been picked as India’s official entry to the most prestigious film awards, the OSCARS.
Visaaranai will be the 9th Tamil film to enter the Oscars with Hey Ram being the last entry from Tamil cinema. It is a proud moment to have a Tamil film representing the nation to the Oscars after 16 years. It must be noted that 7 Kamal Haasan films have been submitted to the Oscars till date out of which two are other language films.
Though 8 Tamil films have been submitted to the Oscars, none of them have been nominated by the Oscar board till date. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope Visaaranai becomes India’s first Academy Award winning film for Best Foreign Language Film.
We are glad to register that we have congratulated director Vetri Maaran for this recognition. Our sincere compliments to Dhanush, Samuthirakani, Dinesh and the rest of the cast and crew on this occasion.

We will have to wait and see if one of these two filmmakers direct Suriya 36 or will they decide to go with some other director?

It has been two weeks since Vikram’s Iru Mugan stormed the box office. The film released all over India on September 8th, 2016 and proved to be a powerful entertainer. So, just how much did the Anand Shankar directorial collect in Chennai box office? Producer, Shibu Thameens gave us an exclusive input regarding this:
“It is still ‘full-house’ in most of the places, even during this weekend. The film has collected a whopping 6cr+ so far and still counting within the Chennai city and the collection in Kerala is around 8cr. Iru Mugan was able to amass such a figure in spite of lesser screens, especially during Onam as films like Oppam, Oozham, and two other strong Malayalam films releasing alongside goes on to speak of the film’s success.
Iru Mugan has marched strongly past the magical 100 crore feat. The whole cast and crew is very excited about this"
