Ace-director Sundar C, who has proved his mettle in directing commercially successful films has now announced his biggest ever project, Sangamithra. The launch of this movie took place at Cannes 2017, where the producers, Thenandal Studios Limited, along with actors Jayam Ravi, Arya, Shruthi Haasan and also music composer AR Rahman, were present.
When Sundar C was asked as to how the idea to make Sangamithra had incepted, he said, ''It has been a 15-year-old dream for me to do this project. Nearly 50 years ago, Aayirathil Oruvan starring MGR was the only grand Tamil film at that time. I was fascinated by the film, and that started the dream for me to do this project. But the time has to come, there were a lot of opportunities for me to do this film before, but we needed a huge budget, technical expertise and more importantly, we needed a very good producer. Fortunately, we got Mr. Murali of Thenandal Studios Limited. I just put forth an idea to him, and slowly everything fell in place''.
When asked about why the team chose Cannes to make the big announcement, Sundar C added, ''We are planning Sangamithra as the first Indian movie for the world audience. There was a movie called Baahubali which took southern films to an Indian level, and with Sangamithra we are planning to take Indian movies to the world level.'
After the raging teaser of Ajith's upcoming action film with Siva, Vivegam had released, the fans were exhilarated about the dialogue in the teaser which started trending all over. Yes, we are talking about the dialogue, ''Never Ever Give Up''. This dialogue was heavily spoken about and many connected this to Ajith's real life struggles and hard-working nature.
Recently, we came across some reports which suggested that there is going to be a song titled, Never Ever Give Up, which would be composed by Anirudh and written by lyricist Kabilan Vairamuthu. It also indicated that the lyrics of the song would harp on the hardships Ajith has been through in his 25-year long film career.
However, sources close to the team were rather surprised about this speculation. We are informed that as of now, there has been no such idea and it is just a dialogue in the film. It will most definitely be an exciting and powerful track if it is actually made.
Actor Naga Chaitanya who met the media yesterday had revealed an important information about his wedding, “We will announce the details once everything is finalized. It is now said that Nag and Sam will be flying to the USA for their honeymoon to relive their Ye Maaya Chesave (Telugu version of VTV) days.
Our sources reveal that the wedding date has indeed been locked and they will supposedly get hitched on the 6th of October.
Marudhanayagam is one project, which every single film buff would want to be revived. It was Kamal Haasan's dream project, which was initially started in 1997, but dropped due to budget constraints and various other reasons.
Even today, many people ask Kamal Haasan if the project would be revived. The latest updates make us wonder if the much awaited mega project is going to be revived soon. The Cannes Film Festival is currently happening in France, where Sundar.C's epic drama Sangamithra was launched. Alongside the posters of Sangamithra, the posters and stills of Marudhanayagam were put up on display. This has indeed made everyone excited, which has added to the buzz about the revival of Marudhanayagam.
Earlier, a few months back, rumors stated that Kamal Haasan is in talks with Lyca Productions to revive Marudhanayagam. However, there was no official confirmation regarding that. Now, with the posters being displayed at Cannes, is there any serious plans of reviving Marudhanayagam? Well, the answer should come from Ulaganayagan!
Director Balaji Sakthivel who is known for making heart-wrenching movies like Kadhal, Kalloori and Vazhakku Enn 18/9 has signed his next film. Though Balaji Sakthivel has been working in a film titled Ra Ra Rajasekhar for the past 3 years, it could not see the light of the day due to few reasons.
The director now has decided to move on with his next project which would be produced by Vijay Milton’s Rough Note Productions. Cinematographer turned director/producer Vijay Milton confirmed the news with Behindwoods. Vijay Milton also added that this flick would feature fresh faces as the leads and it is expected to be another intense subject from Balaji Sakthivel.
An official announcement regarding this is expected to be made very soon.
The top talk of Tollywood is easily the sexist comment made by experienced actor Chalapathi Rao. “I don’t know if girls are injurious to health or not. But, they are good for bed (sex)”. That was Chalapathi’s statement during a promotional film event. Many popular stars have condemned this statement which has created some buzz among general public too.
Chalapathi has now issued a statement accusing the media of blowing his comment out of context. “I came to the program a bit late. Just as I sat down the anchor asked me the question, I answered without applying my mind to it. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. If I had hurt your feelings, I am sorry. But, I was angry when they asked me if ‘girls are harmful’? Do we sleep with snakes? No. That’s why I said woman are harmless and that’s why we sleep with them. I don’t even understand what’s wrong in that. Some channel, that does not know Telugu, reported it and others are spreading it like cancer. I will never insult a woman. I will always treat women with respect like mothers and sisters.”
It is very well known that the big team of the upcoming magnum opus Sangamithra, directed by Sundar C, is present at Cannes 2017 to launch the film on a resplendent scale. Along with the director, music composer AR Rahman, Jayam Ravi, Arya, and Shruthi Haasan also made sure they were there. Murali Ramaswamy and Hema Rukmini from Thenandal Films, who are bankrolling this mega budget project was also a part of the team making a grand appearance at Cannes.
While giving an interview, AR Rahman was asked about the effect of Baahubali on the film industry in India, and he had an interesting answer to it. He said, ''I'll tell you about Baahubali. Even before Baahubali, Shekar Kapur wanted to make this film called Paani. He predicted this same thing around 7-8 years back. He kept trying, but then it slipped out. Then Kochadaiyaan could have been the Baahubali, but the animation and CG went wrong. So, it is not like Baahubali is the first one, there were many attempts, but they were failed attempts. The belief is right, but the steps were wrong. The Baahubali team is very lucky, they're very talented, and they are very nice people.''
The master composer also spoke about how Indian culture has a unique place in the world. Will Sangamitra follow the right steps and make a mark in the industry? Let us wait and watch!
