Since the late 1990s, Hema Malini has been an active participant in many political campaigns. She campaigned for former Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna when he stood as a candidate from the BJP. After which, she joined the BJP in 2004. Ever since she has been an MP of the Rajya Sabha.
