Tamil movie Mersal directed by Atlee starring actor Vijay in the lead role has faced a lot of controversial issues from the national ruling party post the release due to dialogues that voice about GST and Digital India. The movie has been facing release difficulties due to issues related to AWBI and CBFC before getting screened in theatres. There is quite a few say from other regional politicians and analysts as well. Here are some of the tweets and reports from them.

Mersal controversy: Here is what Pa Ranjith has to say

 

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith has reportedly said that there is no need to remove the dialogues from Vijay-starrer ‘Mersal’ film which released on Diwali. Ranjith said the dialogues in the film reflect the people’s issues, hence, they need not be removed. He added, the film which had dialogues about Digital India scheme and GST received huge appreciations from the public. Earlier, Tamil Nadu BJP leaders Tamilisai Soundararajan and Pon Radhakrishnan demanded that the dialogues should be removed from the film.

Tamil Nadu's regional party VCK's leader Thol Thirumavalavan met the reporters in Coimbatore. When questioned about the Mersal controversy, he said that he had not watched the film yet, but the movie was released only after Censor board gave the certification. In that case, they should fight against the censor board and not against the movie.

Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundararajan met the reporters in Cuddalore and raised another question against Mersal controversy. The movie depicts a scene where doctors are being showcased in a bad light. Tamilisai asked, "If the movie was taken for the welfare of people, then why are you not giving the movie ticket for free or for Rs. 5. If it is for people's happiness then why charge them."

 

According to media reports, Tamil Nadu BJP’s president Tamilisai Soundararajan said that the movie makers of Mersal have to remove things that create a false impression about the government among the public. She reportedly said that the dialogue about GST has to be removed from the movie and alleged that she would move court if the part about criticising GST is not removed.

BJP's politician Pon Radhakrishnan has stated that the movie has portrayed scenes which are not true. He has also made a strong comment that movie should remove the scenes which Tamilisai had asked to.

Second tweet on Singapore hospital:


"Free treatment in Singapore hospital is a lie. But in India schools, college and hospitals are free of cost for poor people. Mersal movie is nothing but Vijay's hatred on Modi."

BJP’s Ila Ganesan said in a press meet that he does not want to promote the movie by talking about it. He also said that it had become a practice for people to talk bad about the central government. Earlier, Tamil Nadu BJP's president Tamilisai Soundararajan said that she would move court if the filmmakers do not remove dialogues criticising GST.

The film ‘Mersal’ was caught in a lot of controversies even before the movie’s release. While Tamil Nadu’s BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan earlier wanted the movie makers to remove the dialogue about GST, DMK’s working president MK Stalin reportedly said that he has not watched the movie and that he cannot comment on the BJP president’s demand.
