Fan favourites Chennai Super Kings, which is making a comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after two years retained their core players during the IPL auction. CSK retained 'Thala' Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja with the retention policy and used their Right To Match (RTM) card to retain all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and South African captain Faf Du Plessis. CSK missed out on some former players who played for the franchise during the 2015 season.
