SEMA CAST & CREW
1 of 2
Production: Pasanga Productions
Cast: Arthana Binu, GV Prakash Kumar, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu
Direction: Vallikanth
Screenplay: Vallikanth
Music: GV Prakash Kumar
Cinematography: Vivek Anand
Editing: Pradeep E Ragav
Lyrics: Egadesi, Yugabharathi
PRO: Suresh Chandra

Sandaali
Singers: Velmurugan, Mahalingam
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Sandaali is a half-melody produced by GV Prakash to neatly bring in romance in a groovy folk track. The bass requires a special mention in this song as it stands out. The usage of the synth bass, as well as the bass guitar, is awesome. Live violins have been recorded for this number and it sounds fantastic in the solo. Velmurugan, as usual, gives his best by adding the Southern flavor to this song.

Uruttu Kannala
Singers: Santhosh Hariharan, Monisha, Malavika
Lyrics: Egadesi

Uruttu Kannala, said to be composed for Simbu during the initial plans for Vada Chennai, is a pakka dance track for GV to rock the floor. Monisha's voice and humming are the highlights in the track as it sounds sublime. The lyrics may work with the rural commercial fans while some may tend to get irritated. There is a guitar background music that comes after the second stanza which sounds good. A transition from proper folk to melody takes place in the song. It sounds sudden but once it starts, it captures your attention.

Nenje Nenje
Singers: Siddharth Mahadevan, Saasha Tirupati
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Nenje Nenje is the only pure melody track in the album. But not much surprise, it still holds tight to folk, at times. Saasha Tirupati's flawless singing helps this track attain its beauty. This song has very good orchestration with GV coming back to his roots and using a violin chorus, strings orchestra, and the flute.

Vechchi Senjaachu
Singers: Rajaganapathy, Aadhik Ravichandran, GV Prakash
Lyrics: Arunraja Kamaraj

This is a fun-filled track, composed as the introduction song for GV Prakash. The song has ripping fast-paced beats and Rajaganapathy takes over the track and throws his voice out perfectly. Aadhik supports the song with some funky short dialogues and other rap portions which have the potential to remind you of Arunraja Kamaraj's style of singing. Many sounds created by the mouth are used, which would add a sense of amusement for the listeners. This is possibly the best song of the album with heavy commercial value. There is a swift shift in pace in the last background music of the song which sounds competent.

Sema Theme
Artists:
Naadhaswaram Thirumoorthy & Adhik Ravichandran

GV Prakash’s Sema theme is a proper Folk based fun theme that is dominated by the instruments Nadhaswaram and Thavil. To add to this, there are the fast beats and the tempo picks up just a few seconds into the theme. Percussions provide the energy required for a fun and entertaining “Sema” theme.

Verdict: GV produces an album which is high on rural folk and stays true to its roots, yet could have been diverse
