ORU MELLIYA KODU MOVIE REVIEW

Starring Arjun, Shaam, Manisha Koirala in the lead, Oru Melliya Kodu by director AMR Ramesh is a mystery thriller which takes on a ride of highs and lows but with a greater impact of the lows. This film has already hit the Kannada box office as AMR’s Game. Read on to know how much of it works in Tamil.

Arjun, playing the role of a cop delivers a convincing performance. The fluctuations in his portrayal are quite justified during the climax. Shaam might become your favorite among the three as the ease in his performance enhances the impact his character intends to have on the audience. One might not be very happy with what Manisha Koirala has to offer, both performance and screen time vise.

The plot is quite intriguing and does manage to involve you through the murder mystery that few officers intend to solve. If the story also had a dimension from Manisha Koirala’s character, a wholesome feel in terms of narrative could have been achieved. Overall major credits go to the choice of the genre.

Though it is an Ilayaraja album, one might not be touched by the songs largely. BGM also remains to be only functional. Appreciations to Krishna Sriram for his work with the light and lenses while KV Krishna Reddy uses his digital scissors appropriately. As a product, Oru Melliya Kodu boasts of a good production value.

Even after claiming it to be a bilingual, lip sync issues in major episodes make the experience tiresome. Force fitted glamour and songs are another major setbacks to this tale which for sure could have worked better sans the so called “commercial elements”.

The message sent out in the climax might instantaneously alter your mood. If this message had been woven well within the tale, the film could have worked better.
