Devi(l) which sees the star dancer Prabhudeva joining hands with director Vijay for the first time had its Tamil version's audio launch yesterday, on the 27th of September. The event was organized at Hotel GRT Convention Centre, Chennai, with celebrities like Tamannaah, Sonu Sood ,RJ Balaji and many others gracing it.
The Executive Producer Ashwin who began the event with a welcome note thanked all the Press and Media friends for taking time to attend the event. He also said, "Devi(l) is the first Indian film to be shot trilingually and released trilingually at the same date-October 7."
RJ turned actor RJ Balaji in his speech said, "Director Vijay is a very close friend. He is a very dedicated director that he finished Devi(l) and started shooting his Jayam Ravi project immediately. Even now he has completed his next script and he is trying to start his next with Madhavan". He then made the crowd go crazy when he said, "Sonu Sood, get us the Jackie Chan movie tickets".
Sonu Sood said, " My first film was in Tamil. I have so many good memories here in Chennai. Tamil movies have always been special to me. I remember even the dialogues I spoke in a scene in my debut film Kallazhagar with Vijayakanth. The movie was shot in Madurai."
Producer Ganesh in his speech said, " Devi(l) is so special to me. I have been close to Prabhu sir for a very long time and Vijay is like a student to me. I am happy that I had acted as a bridge to take Vijay to Hindi and Prabhu sir back to Tamil after 12 years. The movie has come out so well that Sonu Sood after watching it came forward to release the movie in Hindi. The movie is having a tent pole release. Sonu is the reason behind Shah Rukh Khan giving his voice and Jackie Chan releasing the Hindi trailer."
Tamannaah in her emotional speech said, "Chennai and Tamil Cinema gave me the identity that I have today. It was great working with Prabhudeva sir. He always calls me Mrs.Doubtfire on the set since I was asking too many questions to the director."
Prabhudeva said, " I am seeing too many new faces amongst the press and photographers. It feels good to see the new generation of press people in the field". Speaking about Devi(l) he added, "I go to the set with a very conscious thought that I shouldn't interfere in the working of the director. Vijay is a gentleman. He isn't like me. The most contrasting thing on the set is Vijay doesn't talk at all but RJ Balaji keeps on talking."
He finished it up with, "I have watched Bogan. The movie will release in December. It will be a sure blockbuster. Priyadarshan sir's "Some Moments" will fetch us many awards. I am coming back here soon. Expect some news in the future"
Vijay started off emotionally with, "I am missing my friend Na.Muthukumar. He used to be my well-wisher all the time". On Prabhudeva he said, "We are underrating him by always calling him a dancer. He is an extraordinary actor. I got to witness it often and enjoyed it throughout the shoot". He also appreciated Tamannaah as one of the most professional actors.
The event ended after the thanks note of Vijay to the press, media and guests present there.
