Of late, a lot of Tamil films that feature in theatres are getting their television premiere within a short span of time. This was never the case with Tamil films earlier but this is a trend that is being followed for a very long time in Bollywood.
Now Vijay Sethupathi and Ritika Singh’s hit film Aandavan Kattalai is going to be aired on television for the year’s Republic day (January 26th). Some other relatively new films which were brought to the television audiences recently were Remo, Rekka and Irumugan.
With the advancements in the digital market, the number of days a film runs in theatres has been brought down drastically. Also the growing number of movies made is proof of the demand for a continuous string of new films in quick succession.
Till a few years ago, a lot of movies’ satellite rights were sold for a really high price. However, the digital media has brought down the prices of films in the satellite market and this has affected the revenue of many small films. To buck up to this digital era, even television companies have decided that it’s time to reduce the shelf life of new hit films. They have started playing these movies much earlier on their channels right after its exit from theatres.
A changing trend that has ruled Bollywood previously, is now being welcomed by Tamil cinema too!
