Prithviraj boldly took the side of Producers and Distributors in the ongoing cinema strike in Malayalam industry. The actor said that 2016 was a good year for Malayalam cinema and should have been known as the year in which Malayalam films rose to unimaginable heights, but the needless strike at the end has hit the Malayalam cinema hard.
Prithviraj said that he did not want to go into details but would prefer the A class theater owners looking into the number of shows a film has in a day at multiplexes and the facilities they provide before asking for the same revenue share. He said that he chose to support the producer's stand not because he is one of them, but because he is a movie lover who is proud to be a part of the growth of Malayalam cinema.
Prithviraj also congratulated the makers of Pulimurugan for becoming a perfect example to show what Malayalam cinema is capable of. He requested the associations to sort the matter out soon and said that he hopes 2017 to be a better year for Malayalam cinema.
