''FOR THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND, IT WOULD GIVE A 'WOW' FEEL''

Lyricist Madhan Karky and Imman have created a song full of palindrome sentences and words for the film Vinodhan directed by Victor Jayaraj featuring Varun and Vedhika. This film is about a man afflicted with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, aka OCD. We talked to Madhan Karky who elaborated on this.

“Actually, there is no specific Tamil word for Palindrome. We would soon be coining it in such a way that it will also be a palindrome.

When we started looking out for palindromes in Tamil, we realized that there are only 39 such words. And they are also very simple like thatha or paapaa and if made using these words, it would be like a nursery rhyme.

The male character suffers from OCD and he wants everything to be symmetrical. He asks the girl if they can create such a song and that’s when this number will come into play. It has fun, romance and in sync with the genre. Every line will be a palindrome in this duet track Megaragame rendered by Haricharan and Sasha Tirupathi.

If a tune was given and I had to create like this, it would have been difficult. Since it was Imman, I had the complete freedom to experiment. He asked me to write the lyrics first and then he tuned it accordingly. The experience was awesome.

When we attempt such things, the song may not sound like one  but would be like an experimental piece. But thanks to Imman, he has made it like a perfect commercial melody number. We could have released it without even mentioning it as palindrome and nobody would have known. People who cannot understand the language also can enjoy the feel of the number and for those who understand, it would give a ‘wow’ feel.

The song is scheduled to be released on a palindrome website, DooPaaDoo on the palindrome date (7-1-17) at the palindrome hour (7:1:17)”.
