It has been a dream for many filmmakers to work with Actor Ajith Kumar, who is fondly called as 'Thala' by fans. Filmmaker Ashik Jinu has joined this long line of directors waiting to direct Thala. Ashiq Jinu of Kochi is hardly 12 years old, but has already won several laurels for his films.
Ashik is the son of screenwriter and filmmaker Jinu Xavier Edappally. The filmmaker, whose interest and heart lies in cinema, started his career at 10 with short film 'Peedika' which was hailed as one of Kerala's best consumer awareness films. He made his debut as a director with his first commercial film, 'The Columbian Academy'.
Ashik's 1.30-minute-long silent short movie ‘Pashi’ won the Travencore International Film Award under best director, best silent movie, and special mention best child artist categories. He was 11 then. The talented director has also made movies such as 'The Rules of Peace', 'Prison' and ‘Central Excise’.
The director, who has also grabbed the Universal Record Forum Award for Young Directors in India, is gearing up for the release of his feature-length project, 'Eva'. The first look and trailer of the film was released recently and has his father playing the main antagonist.
It was during the release of the trailer that Ashiq said that he's a huge fan of Thala Ajith and that his only aim is to direct him in his film. He also noted that if he makes a film, it should give a message to the society and that's his only aim.
