In a shocking incident that has come to light, US actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed a woman cinematographer and wounded the director on a film set in New Mexico, according to US law enforcement officers.
The incident happened on the set of "Rust" in the southwestern US state, where Alec Baldwin is playing the lead. Halyna Hutchins (cinematographer) and Joel Souza "were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin," the sheriff in Santa Fe said in a statement.
Halyna who was aged 42 was airlifted to hospital but died of her wounds, while Joel, 48, was taken by ambulance and is receiving treatment. A sheriff's spokesman said that the director was in "critical condition."
It is said that the actor - Alec Baldwin was seen outside the sheriff’s office in tears. “According to investigators, it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged. Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged,” sheriff’s spokesman said.
