Today, November 13, marks the fifth year anniversary of the release of one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed films of Thalapathy Vijay - Thuppakki.

Thuppakki gave a much-required boost to Vijay's career, but that apart, it launched him as a stylish, uber cool, modern commercial hero. The combination with AR Murugadoss, also known for his commercially appealing take on hard-hitting plots, worked wonders. And the pair followed it up with another massive hit, Kaththi.

Due to this, AR Murugadoss is one of the few directors who has repeatedly produced box office successes with the star actor. Now, there is a huge buzz around the duo's next film together, tentatively known as Thalapathy 62. And to say that Thuppakki started this legacy will be nothing less than true.
