Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in the Thiagarajan Kumararaja-directed film 'Super Deluxe'. The film opened up to widespread acclaim from audience and critics alike. Meanwhile, the actor has announced his next project with S.P Janannathan, director of social dramas like Eyarkai, Ee, Peranmai and Porampokku Engira Podhuvudamai.
The makers have announced the key details of this film. Titled 'Laabam', the film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead and the actor is paired opposite Shruti Hassan, who was last seen in Tamil in the Suriya-starrer action film 'Si3'. Actor Jagapathi Babu is said to be essaying an important role in the film. The team has commenced the shoot that is taking place in Rajapalayam with a pooja ceremony.

On the technical front, the film is shot by acclaimed cinematographer Ramji, and the music is composed by D. Imman. The film is produced by Vijay Sethupathi under the banner Vijay Sethupathi Productions, in association with 7 C S Entertainment. This marks the fourth outing of Vijay Sethupathi as producer after Orange Mittai, Merku Thodarchi Malai and Junga.
