Super Deluxe is one of the most critically acclaimed films that released this year. The film had a star cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha Akkineni, Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan, Mysskin, Gayathrie Shankar, Bagavathi Perumal, and others playing pivotal roles.
The film was directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja and produced by himself under the banner Tyler Durden and Kino Fist, in association with Alchemy Vision Workz and East West Dream Works. The film hit the screens for public on 29th March 2019.
One of the highlights and talking points of the film was the twist that was placed in the end, where Mrinalini Ravi's character is revealed to be an alien. In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, Vijay Sethupathi spoke about his upcoming film Sindhubaadh, and also decoded the Alien Twist in Super Deluxe.
He said: "The main message that Super Deluxe wanted to drive home was, everyone in the world have their right to live. We have very limited knowledge and with that limited knowlegde, we've been interfering in the lives of other people. This has been taking place for years altogether.
We wanted to convey the same using the alien. How a human was formed, how all the living creatures came into existence, we all know the basics. Even then, we are constrained by various factors like Caste, religion, gender, and more. The alien is sitting there to observe when humans will realise this. That is very important, and that's what I infer from the scene. I consider it to be a blessing to be a part of a film like Super Deluxe."
Vijay Sethupathi will next be seen in Sindhubaadh, directed by Su Arunkumar of Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, and Sethupathi fame. The film has Anjali as the female lead, and is produced by K Productions. The film is releasing tomorrow, June 21.
