The 67th National Film Awards ceremony took place at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan today, October 25. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu presented the awards to those who won this year. The highlight of the event was Actor Rajinikanth being honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution as an actor, producer and screenwriter. He got a standing ovation while receiving the award.
Kangana Ranaut was awarded the Best Actress Award for her performances in 'Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi' and 'Panga'. The actor, dressed in a traditional saree, walked up to the stage and received her award. This is her fourth National Award. She previously won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fashion and Best Actress Awards for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. She shared the special moment with her parents and shared pictures from the occasion.
Vijay Sethupathi, who wore a traditional veshti and a crisp white shirt for the occasion, was conferred with the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal as a transwoman in Thiagarajan Kumararaja's 'Super Deluxe' (2019). Radhakrishnan Parthiban was awarded the Special Jury Award for his film 'Oththa Seruppu Size-7' (2019). Written and Directed by Parthiepan himself, the movie has only one character in it and revolves around the actor being a murder suspect being questioned amidst police officers.
Music Composer D Imman received the Best Music Director award for his works in Thala Ajith-starrer 'Viswasam'. It was also his first collaboration with the actor and the film's director Siva. Raju Sundaram received the Best Choreography award for Telugu Movie 'Maharshi'. The film directed by Vamsi Paidipally and Dil Raju got two national awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment & Best Choreography.

Dhanush And Manoj Bajpayee received their awards for Best Actor. While Manoj Bajpayee got the Best Actor award for his film ‘Bhonsle’ and Dhanush got it for ‘Asuran’. Sushant's last big-screen film 'Chhichhore', directed by Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, won the Best Hindi Film award.
The National Awards 2021 were announced in March. The prestigious awards show recognised the best of cinema in 2019. The annual awards were delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
