Kamalakannan, VFX supervisor whose work was much spoken about in Baahubali 2, has taken over the climax VFX work of the AR Murugadoss-Mahesh Babu’s Spyder. The principle studio is from Russia. Kamalakannan elaborates on this:
Can you tell us about your role in Spyder?
I will only be doing the climax portion for Spyder. I started the work a week ago. Shooting is going on and on-set supervisor is looking after the work. The actual post production work should start around the 1st week of June but simultaneous work is going on though.
Why is the principle studio from Russia?
The way the scenes are visualized, I believe they can do better, in the given timescale.
How did this project come to you?
When I was working in Baahubali 2 itself, this project came. I know producer Madhu for more than a decade, even while I was with Indian Artists. So far, they are using studios from abroad. For climax, they don’t have much time.
Are there any challenges in Spyder?
Challenges are there- without challenges, it won’t come to me. It is a task-based work which I cannot entrust to one studio. There will be a principle studio and other small studios will be working on it.
