Bengali actor and politician Tapas Pal passed away today on February 18 due to cardiac arrest. The veteran was aged 61.
According to media reports, the actor complained of chest pain while he was on his way to the airport. Tapas Pal was admitted to a hospital in Juhu, but was pronounced dead around 4 AM.
Tapas Pal made a mark in the Bengali film industry with the 1980 film Dadar Kirti and went on embark on a successful film career spanning over three decades. The actor contested from Krishnanagar seat during the 2009 general elections on a Trinamool Congress ticket.
Tapas Pal was succeeded by his wife Nandhini and a daughter Sohini Pal
