Veteran Bengali actor and Dada Saheb Phalke winner Soumitra Chatterjee tested positive for COVID-19 on October 6 and since then his health has deteriorated. The latest is that he has been put on ventilator.
He has been receiving care at Bellevue Nursing Home in Kolkata. The fact that the Padma Bhushan awardee is a patient of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been worsening his condition.
His daughter had remarked at the time of his hospitalization - “He is stable. He had a fever in the last few days. We wanted to admit him as a precautionary measure since he has multiple comorbidities.”
We hope that the veteran actor wins this battle as well.
