A STATUE AT HIS BIRTHPLACE FOR THIS LEGEND

Legendary director K Balachander’s birthday is on July 9th and Kavi Perarasu will be unveiling a bronze statue of the veteran in the former’s birthplace Nannilam in Thiruvarur district.

Speaking about the same, Kabilan Vairamuthu says, “It is an emotional moment to remember a legend in his home town. He is an inspiration for many. KB sir was a champion of "People Cinema". I never had the honour of writing for his film. But I had the privilege of working with his son late Mr. Bala Kailasam. He was the one who laid the foundation for modern television programming. A born genius and a vibrant visionary. I see this statue and the event as an act of respect to the entire family”.
