Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Gethu which was released for Pongal 2016 was an U certified film sans any elements that call for an A certification. But the film did not receive its entertainment tax rebate and the authorities had cited that the name Gethu is not a Tamil word and that’s the reason the film is not qualified to enjoy the tax waiver.
But Udhay had given substantial proof that Gethu is indeed a Tamil word which means ‘Thanthiram’ or cleverness. He has filed a case in High Court regarding this.
Now the producer/actor has shared in his microblogger that he has won the case against the TN government and the Chennai High Court has granted tax exemption for the film. He says, “#redgiant wins the case against the TN govt! Chennai high court grants tax exemption for #gethu from the date of release!”
