Recently, an innocent father - son duo were murdered inside the police station in Sathankulam town, Thoothukudi. This incident sparked off an outrage among citizens. Many celebrities also came forward to voice out their opinion, seeking justice for the departed souls and their families.
Singer and RJ Suchitra had posted a video, narrating the incident and shared it on her Instagram handle. This video went viral, with over 18 Million views. Many international Youtubers also spoke about this issue, in connection with her video.
Now, the Thoothukudi police have released a statement saying Suchitra’s descriptive narration in the video is baseless and is not backed by evidence. The statement read “Recently, a video posted by Ms. Suchitra, a south Indian Cine singer describing the Sathankulam incident is doing rounds in the Social media. Ms. Suchitra’s descriptive narration of the incident is baseless and is not truly indicative of the real happenings. In this video, she falsely exaggerated and sensationalized the chain of events and her allegations seem to be a figment of imagination and is not backed up by any proof. The video is promoting hatred against the police.”
The statement further requested all media not to misinterpret or mislead the proceedings and observations of the court. Reacting to this statement, Suchitra has now posted a Tweet that read “Deleting the video is not important. This is what worries me - they told me the post mortem report says none of what I’ve said in the video, happened. A true post mortem is CRUCIAL. Media, pls dont rest until u get a copy. RT & tag. #JusticeforJayarajAndFenix”. It is to be noted that as of today, her video is available in her Instagram handle.
