Several interesting biopics have been announced to some taking its shape while some even got released and won hearts, one such recently released film that can also be roughly considered as a biopic is Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru which is loosely based on the former Army Captain and Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath’s book “Simply Fly”.
Post this, another interesting biopic has been announced by a young director. Yes, Vigneswaran Vijayan, who last directed the biopic - Traffic Ramasamy that featured SA Chandrasekhar, will be now directing a bilingual biopic on Uma Preman, an organ donor and a social activist.
Now, who is Uma Preman? Well, this lady was a victim of child marriage who was born to a mill worker. She had shot to fame when she donated her kidney to a stranger. Post which she started to serve as a volunteer and so far facilitated around 2 lakh dialysis, more than 20,000 heart surgeries, 100s of kidney transplants, schools for tribal communities and low-cost houses for the needy.
For the unversed, she was one among the women awarded by the President of the nation. An excited Vigneswaran stated, “There is no greater philosophy or thing than selfless love. Whenever people around her hurt, Mrs.Uma Preman replies back with love. I believe that this film will be inspirational for many." The film will be made in Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously.
