Few days back, Actor Suriya production's "Ponmagal Vandhal" which stars Jyothika in the lead was decided to release directly on an OTT platform without its theatrical premiere. The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association raised their voice against it by considering a ban on Suriya’s movie.
In reponse to them, over 30 Tamil producers released a joint statement in which they stated their decisioj to release small and medium budget films directly on OTT platforms. They strongly asserted that A film producer has every right to exploit their films in order to recover their investment. The producers also requested distributors and theater owners to cooperate with them and asked the theatre association not to take any decision which hurts the interests of a producer.
A popular theatre owner expressed his disagreement over the producer's statement in a series of tweets. He said that "If OTT gonna bring down cinema let me say one thing, still Hollywood not releasing their movies into OTT nor any big budget films around the world. If that happens, I mean if OTT platforms bought a movie like Avatar 2, probably the subscription cost will change". He also said that theatre experience cant be created at home unless people have home theatre system. He further said "See I like OTT, I'm not against it. But I'm against movies should be exclusive to OTT. Let the movies get released in theatre and based on it's Box office performance release the movie on OTT soon or later, no problem!! For me more than a experience I love the celebrations".

And there will be limitation to view some movies like one time per week or so, for that cost streaming in a mobile or TV won't bring the actual output of the movie for sure. It will be wasted !!
Theatrical experience can't be created unless you have an expensive home theatre sys
