IS 2016 A YEAR OF SEQUELS ?

Tamil cinema is naïve when it comes to the concept called sequels. We don’t have too many movie franchises like how the west do. But the idea of movie franchises is slowly gaining prominence in Kollywood as well.

2016 particularly looks to be a year for sequels and movie franchises. Last week we had the release of the second edition of Sundar C’s horror comedy series Aranmanai. We hear that Sundar C is also planning to do a sequel of Kalakalappu.

Likewise Lingusamy is all set to direct the second edition of his action entertainer Sandakozhi which is likely to go on floors in a few days.

Here is a list of sequels/ film franchises that might hit the screens in the next 24 months.

We also hear that there are plans to do sequels for VIP 2, Jeans 2 and also Theri 2.
