Solo - Bejoy Nambiar's bilingual which released worldwide on October 5th had opened to a mixed response amongst the audiences, though critics and reviews raved the film for its strong experimentation. The climax of the 4th episode in the film reportedly went through a lot of criticism amongst fans, especially in the Malayalam version.
There were also reports that the climax was altered from yesterday (October 7th) and there were many questions to Bejoy Nambiar online regarding it. The director has finally opened up about it through his twitter; He tweeted "For all those asking about the changed ending. It has been done without my knowledge and consent.Good or Bad I stand by the film I made."
According to the latest reports, Tamil Nadu theatre association has apparently decided not to go on a strike for the time being, but at the same time, they are not going to screen any new films unless until the State Government removes Entertainment tax for movies. It looks like, except the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual film Solo, no other movie will release in Tamil Nadu this weekend. But even Solo's run might be interrupted. Reports suggest that Solo might run for just 1 day in Tamil Nadu. It could continue its run only post the theatre strike issue gets resolved.
It is a tricky situation for Solo team. They could neither back off nor have a proper release. Here the official statement from director Bejoy Nambiar "It's with a broken heart I am saying this. Despite our valiant efforts, we won't be able to stop #Solo Tamil being pulled out of theatres in TN from the 6th because of the strike. The option we had was to not release domestically and let only the international version play out. This was unacceptable to me & my producing partner. Our faith & conviction in our film is immense & I am deeply grateful for everyone who has stuck by us. Let's just hope & pray the strike gets resolved at the earliest. Tomorrow lets all go SOLO!."
