Tamil Nadu Theatres Association decided to shut down all the theatres in Tamil Nadu from 3rd of July, for high GST taxation and State Government's municipality tax.
Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, headed by Vishal, has made an official statement regarding this stating that they won't be supporting the theatre association's shutdown decision. The statement read, "Indefinite theatre shutdown has been announced from July 3rd, as we all know. Before announcing this strike, the association could have consulted with all the producers and then decided upon the strike because it involves huge money of those producers. Their source of income is from theatres, and when they are closed, it will definitely affect them with a loss.
We are also striving hard for the betterment of the industry and we have even submitted our queries and requests to the State Government. We need to give them time to react on it. So, it is not right to take that decision. We are not supporting this decision for now. As requested by the producers and other actors, on behalf of everyone, TFPC requests the theatre association to reconsult on their strike and make a wise decision."
