The movie 'Thappad' starring Taapsee Pannu, directed by Anubhav Sinha, is to be released on 28 February 2020. The trailer of this movie was out recently. As the trailer portrays, the film signifies the title 'Thappad', meaning 'Slap'. Taapsee plays a married woman, whose life surrounds her husband, who has vested her life and emotions in him and how she gets disillusioned after being slapped by her husband in public.
Taapsee is known for choosing scripts with nuances and profoundness like 'PINK' and this movie is one such. The movie is expected to rightly articulate the anxiety resulting from disillusionment as the movie showcases the emotional havoc that happens after the disillusionment. The movie is much awaited for the small yet profound aspect of life it centers.
Owing to this, the movie is beginning to receive extended support from many, in and out of the industry. Actress Sonam Kapoor, film critic, Anupama Chopra and most importantly UN Women India, an entity for gender equality and women empowerment have expressed their support and wishes for Thappad. It is to be noted that Thappad also ranks number one in 'Score Trends India'.
.@unwomenindia is proud to support #Thappad (the movie, not actual slaps!)
For there is no excuse for any form of violence against women & girls.
#Thappad is disturbing, insightful and deeply moving. @anubhavsinha & @taapsee tell a story that isn’t about one man and one woman. It’s indicts all of us and that is this film’s power. Will post a more detailed review end week!
