T Rajendar met the press in the early hours of this morning to address some issues that he felt were of utmost importance at this time. He expressed his extreme vexation caused by the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council and its president, Kalaipuli S Thanu.
Speaking to the gathered press, he said, ''Why can't you compromise with Sun TV and pay the balance amount from the satellite rights back to me? You convinced me to take a loan and pay them, and you guaranteed to return it. Why can't you keep up your word? When honorable secretaries Mr. Radhakrishnan and Mr. Kathiresan are ready to sign the agreement for the return of the balance amount, why can't the President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, Thanu sign it?
My doubt is, how can such people change the fate of the council? In my case, I'm able to sell some assets, sing for some films, act in movies and pay my loans back but what will the other small time producers do?
For so many days, I haven't come out and said anything. I haven't even taken the name of the private company, but when they asked me to stand for the council, I decided to take this matter seriously and address it.
A case for Vaalu is currently pending at court. My son Simbu is a Tamil actor and has fought for the culture of Tamil Nadu during the Jallikattu issue. You are not treating cinema the way it needs to be. You are looking at it as politics. I didn't want to compromise on my ideologies and associate with you, and for that, you decided to trouble my son and me. In fact, we can handle that, but my question is, why are you giving hardship to all the other producers in the association?''
