The audio launch of Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai, happened this morning at Sathyam Cinemas, where Suriya was the guest of honour.
 

He said, “When the first look of the film released, not just me, the whole family were in awe with the transformed makeover of Karthi. But this isn’t new. It always happens in Mani sir’s films.

This character, played by Karthi, has a different level of mindset. Its a huge blessing for Karthi. I’ve always wanted to ask this to Mani sir but didn’t have the guts to ask before. This time, even my pondatti told me to ask this question. Sir, I still call my wife, pondatti, thanks to you. I do not know what another word to use. So, I use pondatti, whenever I address or speak to her. Even after all these years, how are you still able to pull off so much of energy and freshness in your films? That refreshing love, romance- what has been the secret?

Mani sir and Rahman sir, are a great inspiration to everyone in the creative field. It has been 25 years since this combination happened, and, even after delivering so many hits, there has been no difference of opinion or small breaks between them. It is a lesson for everyone. They have proved that two talents can grow together and you can achieve lots and lots of new things. I am very happy and proud to be in this stage. Thank you.”
