As people are observing the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Suriya’s much-awaited Soorarai Pottru team has given a surprise to the fans and movie buffs by announcing its release in the digital platform skipping the theatre release.
The film is all set to release in the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on October 30. While this announcement not only came as a sweet surprise, it was equally shocking for many and fans are now worried about another highly-anticipated movie, Thalapathy Vijay’s Master if it would also skip the theatrical release.
Though it was said that Master would not release in the digital platform, fans are still worried after actor Suriya’s sudden announcement of his film. Now, we bring you how the happy and equally unhappy theatre owners have reacted to this announcement -
Vettri Theatres owner, Rakesh Gowthaman tweeted, “First BIG-HERO movie in Tamil to be released directly on OTT. This might be a wise decision commercially & favourable for TV viewers but definitely not for exhibitors & movie experience lovers. My only doubt is what if Theatres open PAN India in October!!!”
While Rohini Silver Screens Theatre Owner, Rhevanth has asked fans not to worry about Master, “#MasteratRohini will rage soon! #Thalapathy fans, don't worry he will not let you down ! He knows what exactly his fans want!”
Ram Muthuram Cinemas wrote, “Some movies are meant for Theatrical Release, I understand the current situation. But still feeling really bad for #SooraraiPottru going for a direct OTT..Can be released on theatres first and a sooner release OTT, that would be a win-win for both.”
They further continued, “For Small budget movies itself immediate HD Piracy damages the movie value. It is a big budgeted film, also having Huge Star value also it is sure that HD print will be released right away. It is the Producer Decision in the end & it's their wish. Peace.”
