Actor Suriya was last seen in his hit film - Soorarai Pottru which had opted for an OTT release due to the Coronavirus pandemic and went on to be the most celebrated movie in the Indian film industry in 2020.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film featured Aparna Balamurali as the female lead while Paresh Rawal, Dr. Mohan Babu, Karunas, Vivek Prasanna, Urvashi amongst others were seen in prominent roles.
On Republic Day, one of the producers - Rajsekar Pandian had shared the news, "Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today."
Now, it has been learnt that Soorarai Pottru has emerged as the one and only Indian film amongst the 366 films - eligible for a Best Picture nomination at this year's Oscars! With the list finalized, Academy voting will start from March 5th to 10th, with nominations to be announced on March 15. Stay tuned!
