Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vamanapuram MLA D K Murali have been quarantined after attending a programme at Venjaramoodu police station on May 23, in which later a remand prisoner tested positive for COVID-19.
The actor and the MLA had attended an agriculture related programme along with police officers at the station, who have also been quarantined. In addition, a magistrate before which the prisoner was produced has been kept under observation.
The man was arrested for drunken driving and hitting two police officers with a car. It is not clear how he seems to have contracted the virus considering there is no detail of him having been to abroad or other states.
Though social distancing was maintained at the function, precautions are being taken in the form of quarantine. We hope that the scare lifts away soon.
