Superstar Rajinikanth will next be seen in Siva directorial titled as 'Annaatthe'. The project will be produced by Sun Pictures, which had earlier bankrolled Rajinikanth’s successful hits that include 'Enthiran' (2010) and 'Petta' (2019).
The first look, which was released on September 10, featured a super-stylish Rajinikanth all dressed up in a traditional attire. The motion poster which was released in the evening featured a super stylish Rajini in full bike gear giving an entry on a bullet wearing a helmet and earphones. He was seen holding a machete in his hand while spreading sparks and fire along the way.
The trailer for the biggie was unveiled on October 27. The trailer introduces us to the protagonist Kalaiayyan, the Panchayat President of Soorakottai, the place where the story takes place. Keerthy Suresh is seen playing Rajinikanth’s sister, while Nayanthara is paired opposite him as the romantic lead. As the trailer progresses, the makers present a glimpse of the antagonists, played by Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj and Abhimanyu Singh. An important portion of the film is set in Kolkata.
The trailer brought back memories of the Superstar from his eighties and nineties and his punchlines hit the right chord, and fans are super eager to catch the film on the big screens. 'Annatthe' makers are aiming for a grand theatrical release across thousands of theatres in India and as well as abroad. Rajinikanth's movies have always had a great reception worldwide owing to his massive fan base across the globe.
More than 1100 theatres are ready to release 'Annaatthe' in the US, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and the UK. This is the biggest ever release for a Tamil movie worldwide, specifically in the US as well as France. Close to 500 screens in the US are going to light up with Rajinikanth's glorious release. This is also the highest-ever screen release for a Tamil movie in France.
It is to be noted that 'Annaatthe' is also releasing in the world's largest movie screen - The Panasonic IMAX Theatre at Darling Harbour in Australia's Sydney. More than 60 theatres in Australia, 10 in New Zealand, 14 in Canada, 100 in Malaysia, 80 in the Middle East, 20 in Singapore, 50 in Sri Lanka and 30 in the United Kingdom are going to release 'Annaatthe'.
While Qube Cinema had bagged the distribution rights of the movie in the US and Canada, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies earlier announced that it had acquired the theatrical distribution rights of 'Annaatthe' in Tamil Nadu.
Apart from Superstar Rajinikanth, Annaatthe will also feature Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Soori, Sathish, Bala (Director Siva’s brother) to name a few in prominent roles and is a D Imman musical. 'Annaatthe' releases on the big screens on November 4, coinciding with the festive date of Deepavali.
