Director Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth gets a new baddie on board, Sudhanshu Pandey. Viewers may recall him in the Ajith starrer Billa 2. We engage in a crisp chat with the handsome Sudhanshu.
How did 2.0 happen?
I got a call from Shankar sir’s office for this role. Fortunately for me, I had earlier done my Tamil film Billa 2, playing a negative role. It seems like Shankar sir had seen my performance and my photos in it and felt that I would be apt for this character in 2.0. He called me in December 2015 and locked me in for the role.
What is your role like?
I am playing a scientist. I have an agenda in the film. I am avenging my father Danny Denzongpa’s (from Enthiran 1) death here. Whether or not do I this, you need to wait for the film to find out.
Have you started shoot for 2.0?
I did my first smallish schedule in Delhi with Akshay Kumar. Rest of the work will happen in Chennai. I will join them anywhere in May or June.
Have you met Rajini sir?
I have not yet met Rajini sir and am waiting to meet him. The biggest reason for me to do this film and feel excited about is the fact that I will be working with the God himself and also with one of the most amazing directors in the country, Shankar sir. It is a big moment for me.
Shankar
Shankar sir is the most unassuming person. First time I saw him was in his office in Chennai. I was there for a look trial. They had called one of the topmost hair stylists in the country that had come from Mumbai. Then there was the costume designer. We tried on 7-8 costumes and different hair styles for my look in the film. It took the entire day to try everything one by one. They also got me special glasses from US for this character. Shankar sir walked in the morning to say ‘hello’ to me. Of course, I had heard so much about him but have never met him before. He turns out such a simple, humble and soft spoken man that it shocked me completely. I was really amazed. He stood all day around me to supervise the look. The kind of minutest details that he was looking into get this look to perfection was amazing. His eye for detailing, hard work and patience are commendable and are his characteristic features.
Indrajeet
I am waiting for my next release Indrajeet. The trailer has already created a lot of buzz. We all have put in so much of hard work and now we will be awaiting audience’s verdict.
Other projects
I hope I pick up more projects in the south as I love the south industry more than Bollywood. I would really want to lot more work in the south.
Wish you the best Sudhanshu!
