Irudhi Suttru, the film on boxing directed by Sudha Kongara released last week, on 29th of January and has collected a lot of plaudits. It steps into the second week from today (5th Feb) and the screens have been increased from 150 to 250 with an increase of shows in many multiplexes.
Sharing the information, an ecstatic Sudha states, “When we started out, we were fighting for screens and nobody was willing to give. Finally, when we were given the screen also, it was the smallest one possible, an apology for a screen. Our film was branded as a multiplex one, but we were not even given that then. People did not understand my film which was painful for me. However, by the end of the first day, things started changing and I was getting positive response from all over. People called me from places like Sivagangai sharing the awesome response of the audience. We were given four shows where the film had not even opened on Friday in the interiors. It was amazing and the film was climbing and climbing.
Meenakshi Sundaram of Mayajal informed me that he started off with few screens and increased to 12 screens on the same day. Arulnithi called me from Pudhukottai to inform the way the film was celebrated there. All over the place, screens are being increased exponentially. Now multiplexes are giving us big screens and we are booked through all the shows for this week.
Everybody is very happy. I made a ‘tiny little’ film and everybody made us feel very tiny last week but now we are happy and feel good at this moment”.
